April sees the implementation of a powerful learning resource being made available to all MTA Institute students. While students have already had access to their learning and assessment material online via a Learner Management System, the permanent integration of the CDX online platform will greatly enhance their learning opportunities. 

While the integration of this resource represents a significant financial outlay for the Institute, we firmly believe it’s a great investment in our students and ultimately our future business owners and industry leaders, so it’s money well spent. 

While our trainer/assessors have had access to the platform for many years and have used it successfully in combination with practical hands-on training, students will now be able to access over 1000 technical videos, as well as hundreds of interactive animations showing the complex inner working of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. All this is available 24/7, 365 days a year while they’re enrolled with the MTA Institute. 

We’ve all been there! Pages and pages of technical text, blah blah, words, more words, blah blah, which just don’t sink in. Sorry, no compute, non comprende! I’m not saying videos and animation in isolation will solve our skilling and knowledge challenge, but I am saying a good video or animation combined with good training (you and us combined) can see the penny drop for our trainees and apprentices and the ‘Aha!’ moments begin. 

I still vividly remember being a first-year apprentice and seeing an animation of the four strokes of an internal combustion engine. That was my first of many ‘Aha!’ moments in an industry that’s forever moving and ever so complex.  

It’s our responsibility to provide trainees and apprentices as many learning opportunities as physically possible, allowing them to gain and retain as much knowledge as they can. We’re confident 

the new platform will aid us in achieving this objective.
