Join in on all the action of the MTAQ Racing Team, now in its third year, by applying to join the MTAQ Racing Team support crew!
Led by Driver and Team Manager David Wood, the successful applicants will be integral to the success of the MTAQ Racing Team and will have the opportunity to work at MTA Institute’s state-of-the-art workshop to take part in behind-the-scenes vehicle preparation as well as attend race days.
This opportunity has the potential to open doors into the world of motorsport.
Requirements:
If chosen, the support crew will need to be available for vehicle preparation and maintenance (at dates to be determined, but usually outside work hours) as well as attend racing dates listed below. We understand that some flexibility for racing dates and preparation times is required for support team members, particularly considering employment obligations.
Preference will be given to:
- present and graduate apprentices of the MTA Institute; and
- members of MTA Queensland.

March 29-31 – QLD Championship Round 1 (Warwick)
April 19-21 – Federal Tyres Bathurst Challenge (Bathurst) *TV Event*
June 28-30 – QLD Championship Round 2 (Warwick)
July 12-14 – Excel Australian Championship (The Bend Motorsport Park – SA) *TV Event*
August 1-3 – Federal Tyres Invitational incl. QLD Championship Round 3 (Queensland Raceway Ipswich) *TV Event*
Dec 1-3 – QLD Championship Grand Final Round 5 (Warwick)
Duties:
- Vehicle preparation
- Mechanical work on vehicle
- Repairs
- Paint / panel repairs as required
- Race Day crew work
- Tuning and other maintenance
Support crew will be provided with safety gear and team shirts.
This is a non-paid volunteer opportunity and food/accommodation will be covered for event days that require travel. Annual ‘volunteer agreements’ are required to be signed by all support crew team members.
