This is a nationally recognised VET accredited course.
This course is designed to upskill automotive technicians with the skills and knowledge to safely depower and reinitialise Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles ( PHEVs). It involves ensuring the vehicles’ high voltage rechargeable energy storage system (RESS) is isolated before commencing any service or repair work and calibrating vehicle systems that may need resetting once the energy storage system is reinitialised.
This course is the minimum requirement for accessing manufacturer’s vehicle information as part of the Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Information Sharing Scheme Act 2021. Whilst enrolled in this course, students will have access to manufacturer’s manuals through AASRA.
Prospective students must hold an automotive tradesperson qualification and have current experience in the automotive industry.
A copy of your qualification, including an academic transcript (list of units completed), will be required on enrolment.
Students will need access to a computer or similar device with an internet connection to complete their online learning, prior to attending the face-to-face component of the course.
This is a blended learning course consisting of approx. two days of self-paced online learning, prior to attending the course venue for one day of face-to-face practical and theory training.

Students with a pacemaker or other medical device susceptible to magnetic interference are not permitted to work on PEVs, HEVs, BEVs, PHEVs or FCEVs that contain powerful magnets capable of affecting those devices (AS5732:2022 (Sect 2.1)).
Personal protective equipment must be worn (ie: suitable automotive workshop attire including work boots).
