To help combat the skills shortage in Queensland and to meet technological change, funding is available for automotive trades people to achieve a second trade. Dual qualifications can be achieved by the traditional apprenticeship style training and assessment method, however Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer (CT) from previous qualifications will be applied.
Qualifications the MTA Institute can offer are:

The nominal duration to complete this competency based apprenticeship is 4 years full time. This duration is proportionately increased for part-time and school-based arrangements. The MTA Institute’s flexible training model takes into account the learner’s skills and knowledge acquired through previous training and experience. This may lead to a reduction in the time required to complete this apprenticeship.
There are a range of methods used for our training and assessment which include written and oral questions / answers, and demonstration and observation of practical tasks.

In most cases the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training meet the cost of training. The amount that is contributed will depend on the priority level of the course being undertaken which is periodically reviewed and updated by the Department. In some instances, learners will be required to pay a minimal co-contribution fee which will be determined on an individual basis prior to enrolment.
