Working in the industry with no formal qualifications?

Motor Trades Association Institute (MTA Institute) is now offering Trade Recognition for skilled and experienced individuals working in the automotive industry with the purpose of gaining a formal Trade Qualification.

What is Trade Recognition?
Funded by the State Government, Trade Recognition is a fantastic opportunity for experienced automotive trade workers to gain a formal Trade Qualification in just a matter of months.

The duration of the course completion is customised as per the individuals’ gap in knowledge and skills. However, the expectations are that all undertaking Trade Recognition could confidently achieve 60% of a qualification or more through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment.
This opportunity means, the Government funded Trade Recognition undertaken at MTA Institute can be completed and signed off in potentially three months or less for the majority of participants. This is opposed to the three to four years needed to gain a Trade Qualification by those completing an apprenticeship.

To be eligible, learners must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or a Refugee and Humanitarian Visa holder living in Queensland. You must also have six or more (current or recent) years of experience within the industry, providing documentation as proof. Finally, learners must be over the age of 21, have no former Trade Qualifications and express a commitment to gaining the qualification in its entirety.

Although offered at MTA Institute as a Government Funded Initiative there is an additional mandatory fee as applicable to the gap training components. This will differ person to person based on competency, and the fee is $1.60 per nominal hour for each unit of gap training needed to complete the assessment.

With limited positions available, all applications for this highly sought after opportunity will be considered and approved in order of date received.
