New EV Training Opportunities for MTA Institute Apprentices

As battery and hybrid electric vehicles continue to increase in popularity, it is imperative that automotive professionals have the relevant skills and knowledge to safely and correctly service and repair these vehicles.

This is particularly important as the AURETH101 – Depower and reinitialise battery electric vehicles unit of competency has been identified as a prerequisite for automotive technicians to access safety information under the new Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Information Sharing Scheme commencing 1 July 2022.

For nearly five years, MTA Institute (RTO No. 31529) has remained a proud leader in accredited BEV/HEV skillset training with its five-day blended course for qualified automotive technicians.

Covering the fundamental requirements for inspecting and servicing the systems and components of these vehicles, the course was welcomed by industry, and to this day, sessions are sold out months in advance.

Now, MTA Institute students may now have the option of completing entry-level BEV/HEV units as part of their apprenticeship.

This is an ideal opportunity to increase their employability potential and learn a range of skills including depowering and reinitialising battery and hybrid electric vehicles.

As automotive workplaces prepare for the transition to electrically powered vehicles, these competencies will be extremely valuable to both the apprentice and their employer.

MTA Institute students can enquire directly with their trainer to find out more and view upcoming dates.

Coming soon!

Further to closing the knowledge gap for those currently in the industry, Australia now has access to a new apprentice training package aimed at creating a new generation of electric vehicle technicians.

MTA Institute has been heavily involved in the process, engaging with government and PwC’s Skills for Australia to identify the skills and knowledge requirements of an EV workforce.

With the AUR32732 Certificate III in Automotive Electric Vehicle Technology now approved nationally, however, state funding is still required before apprentices can be enrolled. Once this occurs, MTA Institute will be offering the qualification training imminently.
