February 2021

2021 is here and we are right back into work and striving for great industry workforce outcomes. We have seen our enrolments numbers increase over the past 12 months and that is a sign that the industry is looking to put on more apprentices and keep skilling the workforce required to service and repair vehicles for many, many years to come.

What has been great to see is the state government get behind automotive apprentices and support their apprentice co-contribution fees. From 1st January, 2021, the Queensland Government has implemented a new funding program – Free Apprenticeships for under 25s. This program offers fully subsidised training for all our automotive apprenticeship qualifications. However, our automotive traineeship qualifications miss out. For more details, click HERE.

We have our first automotive prevocational training program starting on Monday, 1st February, at our facility in Eight Mile Plains. The AUR20716 Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation is a course designed to give students a basic introduction to the automotive industry. Students undertaking this course will learn a range of tasks relating to identifying and inspecting mechanical and electrical components and systems of light vehicles. For course enrolments please visit HERE.

We have our first MTA Institute graduation ceremony of the year coming up on Friday, 19th February 2021. This is always a great event and something special for those graduating apprentices that have completed the hard work it takes to become a qualified tradesperson. The graduates are all those apprentices that completed for the period 1/7/2020 to 31/12/2020. For more information on the graduation ceremony, contact [email protected]

For those automotive trade individuals interested in delivering training in the vocational education training sector and giving back to the industry, you may be interested in the MTA Queensland VET Trainer Scholarship. This scholarship is the opportunity for automotive professionals to further their careers by undertaking the TAE40116 – Certificate IV in Training and Assessment course, a course that is valued at over $2,500. Applications close 1st March, 2021 and for more details please visit HERE.

There’s always a lot on, but striving to achieve great results for industry keeps us busy.
