If you are like us, you’ve hit the ground running for 2019 and it doesn’t feel like there was much of a break!
We’re now back into the swing of things and have a lot coming up over the next couple of months.
If one of your new year’s resolutions was to get your trade officially recognised, we can assist you through our trade recognition program. Depending on your eligibility, this can be done through either the state government subsidies program or as a fee for service.
There is no better time than now to be recognised for all the work you’ve done over the years in the industry and to have that piece of paper that confirms you’ve got what it takes in the trade. It’s also great opportunity to take on an apprentice as you need to have the qualification to legally put on an apprentice in the same trade.
Speaking of apprentices, our automotive pre-vocational program starts up in February, and that will see aspiring students taking a look at what it takes to work in the automotive industry and discovering if they’ve got what it takes.
This course is run over five weeks and provides some fundamental skills and an understanding of what goes on in an automotive workshop. Having spent time talking to employers about trying to find the right apprentice, I hope that, with this program, we’ll be able to link these prospective up and coming mechanics to employment opportunities in the industry.
We’ve also initiated on online scheduling system, called the ‘Organiser’, through our My Profile learning management system. This system is taking us to the next level as it schedules training sessions and provides reminders to apprentices, supervisors and employers of these upcoming appointments. The advantages for apprentices and employers is that they’ll always know when the next appointment is and can make the suitable arrangements for the apprentices to have all their work up to date and ready for that session.
This year will also see the charging of the guard for a few long-established trainers looking at retirement. To say their contribution will be missed is an understatement! However, with these changes comes opportunities, including the chance to work for the MTA Institute as a trainer.
So, if you’ve got what it takes, and are looking for a new challenge, please submit you details HERE.
As always, If you have any questions regarding training, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
